Rick Huckabay
Rick Huckabay, Sr (1946–2006) was a basketball coach, best known for his years with Marshall University.
Huckabay was born in Louisiana where he played college baseball at Louisiana Tech University. He later became a high school coach in that state. He then became an assistant coach at the Louisiana State University under Dale Brown.
In 1983 he was hired at Marshall, where he compiled a 129-59 record, including 3 appearances in the NCAA tournament and one in the NIT before being forced to resign in 1989 amid an investigation into recruiting.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/coaches/h/huckari01.html )
Following his resignation, and a divorce, he choose not to seek another college job, but remained in the Huntington, West Virginia area where he held several high school coaching jobs in the city's Ohio suburbs, in order to remain near his two sons.
After his sons reached adulthood, he returned to Louisiana where he was coaching high school when diagnosed with cancer.
His older son Rick Huckaby (the son dropped the "Jr." and the silent "a" from his name) is a country music artist.
